‘Tis the Season to Begin Entertaining
It seems as we head into fall, the season for entertaining family and friends begins as we try to bring fun and laughter to life spent mostly indoors. With Thanksgiving on the horizon, and the holiday season following soon behind, we’ll all be reaching for recipes for easy and impressive dishes to whip up for the guests gathering around our table.
It’s always nice to try new recipes when entertaining because, who’s kidding who, we don’t remember what we made the last time a particular group was over! Plus, it’s nice to lead the way with new culinary conquests, right?
So just in time for the season of friends, family and frenzied food prep, we have six new appetizer recipes to share with you to smoothly ease you through the next few months of entertaining.
Who doesn’t love a dumpling? This easy recipe whips up 34 dumplings with minimal effort, so your guests will be generously stuffed! Thanks to Renee Kohlman of Sweet Sugarbeen, we bring you Red Curry Turkey Dumplings with Maple Soy Dipping Sauce.
One of our Tasty Turkey Champions, Kelly Brisson of The Gouda Life, brings us Turkey Taquitos that are not only an appetizer, but could also be served as the main meal. Plus, these could be made using turkey leftovers after you’ve roasted a whole turkey. You’ve got to love the flexibility!
Our western Canadian Tasty Turkey Champion, Michelle Peters-Jones of The Tiffin Box, put together these beautiful Spiced Turkey Tartlets which are sure to impress, yet are quite simple to make. But your guests don’t have to know that, we’ll keep it a secret. You just know these are going to be perfectly spiced, because if there’s one thing Michelle knows, it’s her spices!
Gluten-free enthusiast, Jeanine Friesen of The Baking Beauties, brings us Stuffed Mexican Turkey Bites which disappear quickly, having been dubbed perfect for pairing with a football game.
A fight might possibly break out when you make Tiger Tails, created by Charmian Christie of The Messy Baker. The kids will love these but the adults will clamour for them as well, especially with the honey dipping sauce. A double batch might solve the problem.
Have you ever made your own sausage rolls? It may sound difficult, but Isabelle Boucher of Crumb: The Blog has made it really simple for us in her new recipe, Apple-Turkey Sausage Rolls. Again, the whole family will love these.
And there you have it, a fantastic selection of six new appetizers to get you through the season. And if that’s not enough, we’ve asked our Canadian food blogger friends to do more appetizer recipes for us later this fall! Bet you can’t wait!
